Subject:Arabic Textbooks history response
       Even more interesting is the question of the evolution of
EI (Enclyclopaedia of Islam, Leiden) from edition 1 (in the 20's and
30's [??]) to the presently ongoing EI 2.  The second is clearly
much more irEnic (="non-confrontational"); but how much solid
orientalist scholarship has been lost?  (Have there been any new
archeological discoveries since then that concern the early generations
of Islam? New "theories" concerning the history of those times?? etc.)
