Subject:SIME online Journal Call for Papers

The SIME journal is designed to be an interactive, reliable, and
informative
medium for scholars of Arabic and Islamic studies, students of Islam,
and the
general public. The Muslim world and the Middle East area is being
transformed
into an
ideological, political, and military battleground and now more than any
other
time, there is the need to explore diverse ideas and refocus on old
ones in
order to have a better understanding of that part of the world.

The Studies in Islam and the Middle East journal is relying on the
power of
the Internet in order to speed up the sharing of information and
diversifying
the content and scope of coverage without of course compromising the
academic
standards and the degree of accountability. With these guidelines in
mind,
journal editors and volunteers have identified a number of areas on
which this
publication will focus. Each of these areas is governed by separate
editorial
rules and guidelines. This arrangement will permit the journal to serve
a
wider segment of the interested public and specialists and form a bridge
between the various communities of experts and those seeking
information.

For instance, the journal strives to publish editorial opinions more
frequently but keeps the quantity down in order not to dilute the
quality of
the ideas being disseminated. This approach should give us the
reputation of
being selective for the sake of clarity rather than one promoting
censorship,
elitecism, or specific ideology.

Young scholars, graduate students, and informed members of the public
are
hereby invited to contribute ideas, articles, reviews, papers, and
constructive criticism. Because this project is run by volunteers, we
cannot
guarantee that we will respond to every inquiry, but we promise that
every
submission will be reviewed and considered.
