THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, Department of Near
Eastern Languages &
Civilization, invites applications for a tenure-track
position at the rank
of Assistant Professor in Persian language, literature
and culture, to begin
September 2005. It is possible that permission may be
obtained to fill the
position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
PhD required
(applicants in the final stages of the PhD program may
be appointed on an
acting basis); native or near-native fluency in both
Persian and English;
proficiency in another Middle Eastern or Central Asian
language is
desirable. Teaching duties will include undergraduate
and graduate language
courses, courses on classical and modern Persian
literature, culture and
civilization. Applications, including a CV, statement
of research and
teaching interests, three letters of recommendation,
and samples of writing
and publications, should be sent to: Chairperson,
Persian Search Committee,
NELC, Box 353120, University of Washington, Seattle WA
98195-3120. The
