Second call for papers

Conference on  Communication and Information Structure in Spoken Arabic


The Arabic Program of the School of Languages, Literatures, and  
Cultures of the University of Maryland, and the Center for Advanced  
Study of Language invite scholars in Arabic linguistics to present  
papers that contribute to understanding oral communication in  
Arabic.  Elements of information structure will be examined in terms  
of word order, internal structure of grammatical elements encoding  
informational units, segmental marking, discourse particles, stress  
and intonation, as well as the macro-organization of information. A  
certain amount of travel funding is available for those whose papers  
are selected for presentation.
