VISITING INSTRUCTOR OR PROFESSOR OF ARABIC
The Department of Asian & Near Eastern Languages at Brigham Young
University invites applications for a one-year visiting instructor or
professorial position, with rank depending upon qualifications,
beginning Fall 2007. Applicants should have an M.A. or Ph.D in Arabic
language, linguistics, literature or pedagogy, as well as a
background in Middle East and/or Islamic Studies. Duties include
teaching and supervising language classes primarily at the advanced
level, teaching the Islamic Humanities and Modern Islam classes for
the Middle East Studies Arabic major, supervising the Arabic Study
Abroad program, and helping manage on-campus programs associated with
the Arabic program when assigned (language house, majors club,
etc.). The candidate must have a proven commitment to undergraduate
language instruction. Teaching experience at the college level is
preferred.
