You find a the opposite non-canonical treatment of noun/adjective  
phrases in Lebanese Arabic place names. For example, one of the  
beaches in Beirut is called رملة البيضاء (pronounced  
البيضة when spoken). This looks like an idafa but is not -  
notably, the taa marbuuta is not pronounced, as it would be if it were.

There are two kinds of iDafah - lafDiyah and ma'nawiyah. "Al" may be  
prefixed, if so desired, to the muDaf in iDafah lafDiyah e.g.
قارئ الدرس
كاتب الرسالة
القارئ الدرس
الكاتب الرسالة
Arabic grammar does not allow prefixing "al" to the muDaf of iDafah  
ma'nawiyah e.g.
كتاب الولد
دار الرجل
In my opinion, prefixing "al' to muDaf of iDafah ma'nawiya, as  
mentioned in the previous mail in which most results have been shown  
from Kuwaiti papers,  is either influence of colloqial language or  
they are just typographical errors.
