Subject:German Marshall Fund

I believe the German Marshall Fund is a charitable organization  
founded by
Germany to thank the U.S. for the Marshall Plan that funded  
development in
Europe after the devastation of World War II.  It was named for the U.S.
secretary of state at the time, George Marshall, but its official name  
was
the European Recovery Act -- also according to Wikipedia.
