Subject:research on emergent Arabic literacy
am not sure if I did understood what you mean by"emergent Arabic
literacy/reading instruction". However, I have thought of the
history of literacy in Arabic education. You might look at
1- Avner Gil'adi (1992) Children of Islam. St. Martin's press. New York
2- Bayard Dodge (1962) Muslim Education in Medieval Times. The Middle
East Institute. Washington, DC.
3- Elinor Saiegh-Haddad (2003) Linguistic Distance and Initial reading
acquisition: the case of Arabic diglossia in Applied Psycholinguistics
(Psychological Studies of Language Processes): 24:3:431-451.
best wishes
