Subject:regarding Tausug and Cebuano linguists
Greetings.
I refer to your post in the Arabic-L list today [pasted for reference
below this note] seeking linguists in the Tausug and Cebuano languages
of the RP to develop and deliver language training.
One good source you might consider contacting, and perhaps teaming
with so that your US Government customer can be satisfied, is the
Exotic Languages Agency (ELA) in Orange, California.
ELA enjoys extensive, if not unique [from what I have seen over the
years], access to ethnic communities in the US whose populations
include native speakers of such esoteric / less-commonly-taught/ low-
density / exotic foreign languages, dialects and cultures. The best
person to contact there is Ms. Adriana Chirilov, president & CEO.
ELA has a proven record in developing and delivering customized
"language and area studies immersion" [LASI] programs for training US
Government personnel in a range of foreign languages, regional
cultures, and operating environments. I advised and assisted ELA some
years back on design & conduct of specialized LASI iterations toward
certain areas in the Middle East and Africa. OK to tell Ms. Chirilov I
referred you.
Be prepared to talk about your requirements and business, because I
can assure you that she will.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Stephen H. Franke
