Full-time Lecturer position in Arabic Language
to start September 2010
The Department of German, Russian, and Asian Languages and Literatures
at Tufts University invites applications for a full-time lecturer
position in Arabic Language beginning in September 2010 with
possibility of renewal. Salary competitive and commensurate with
experience and qualifications.
The Arabic Program at Tufts has more than 180 students enrolled in
five different language levels and more enrolled in its culture and
literature offerings taught in English. Responsibilities include
teaching three courses per semester in Modern Standard Arabic and
active involvement and participation in a rapidly developing Arabic
Program.
Requirements: native or near-native fluency in Arabic and excellent
command of English; demonstrated ability to teach all levels of Modern
Standard Arabic at the college level in the U.S.; MA in Arabic or
related field required; commitment to language teaching and curricular
innovation. Training in language pedagogy highly preferred. Ability to
teach one of the dialects favorably considered.
