Subject: Needs refs on gestures and taboos in Egypt
Hello,
Can anyone recommend some good bibliography on gestures in Egypt? I am looking for some article/book that examines the gestures of negation (no) in Egypt. While I know some very good bibliography in Semiotics and the Anthropology of Language - I haven't found anything related. I have done field research in Cairo to collect a sample of gestures, but I need to find some scholarly analysis to compare with my (modest) observations.
I am also looking for texts which analyze the concept of taboos in Egypt. I know this is more of an Anthropological issue, but maybe some of you who have been working on the Anthropology of Language and can give me an hand.
Thank you very much in advance.
If you want you can answer me in private: elenacanna at hotmail.com
Alf shokr!
Elena
