This is because in Traditional Arabic Grammar , the parts of speech are only three: nouns, verbs and  prepositions while in modern Arabic grammar, we have all the other grammatical categories available in some other languages. Possession in Arabic can also be expressed by the pronouns of possession (jaa', hum, na, etc.).
