Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar (position # 102081)
NC State University, Raleigh, NC  

NC State University invites applications for a Posdoctoral Teaching Scholar position in International Programs and International Studies beginning August 16, 2011. The successful candidate preferably will have experience as a teaching assistant or instructor, mentoring students, and a specific research agenda that aligns with one of the graduate degree granting departments.  Motivation to teach, mentor, conduct and publish research and/or scholarship is expected.  

The Postdoctoral Teaching Scholar will teach one class per semester in international studies and/or their respective department, as well as an introductory international seminar per semester (for a total teaching load of two courses per semester).

The successful candidate will also pursue their own individual research agenda and be guided by a faculty mentor in their respective field. A research presentation in the Spring semester of each year will summarize progress in this arena and should result in one or more publications.

In addition, mentoring will be part of this position’s responsibilities in terms of working with either undergraduate/graduate students during office hours and at other appropriate times outside of classroom instruction.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in one of the graduate degree granting departments of the college or closely related field awarded no more than five years from date of postdoctoral appointment.
