Subject:Programs with Advanced/Content Arabic courses
The Arabic Program at the University of Maryland in College Park offers a
two-tier system of undergraduate content courses taught in Arabic:
300-level and 400-level. The 300-level courses are "transitional" and
prepare students for a more challenging 400-level. Students are required to
complete 5 semesters of core language courses before enrolling in 300-level
content, and 6 semesters for the 400-level.
The following content areas are offered in Arabic:
- Arab media;
- Arabic-English translation;
- Business Arabic;
- Arabic literature - modern and pre-modern;
- Arabic short story;
- Arabic linguistics;
- Egyptian film;
- Contemporary Arab popular culture;
- Contemporary Arab political thought;
- Contemporary Arab societies;
- Islamic culture;
- The Arab Renaissance/Nahda
All best,
Valerie Anishchenkova
