Subject:Resources for security Arabic
Greetings.
Some clarification of WHICH aspects or disciplines within the very
large fields of "intelligence" and "security" are of interest would be
helpful in citing some references.
Here is one bilingual reference on the "security" side, with emphasis
on the public safety / police / anti-crime aspects:
Title: Security Dictionary English-Arabic -- القاموس الأمني = أنجليزي عربي
Author: The Studies and Research Center
Naif Arab Academy for Security Studies (NAASS)
Publisher: NAASS Press, Riyadh, 1997 / 1418 H.
Paperback, 260 pp
Price at local bookstores in Riyadh in 2007 was 46 SR.
(NAASS is now the Naif Arab University for Security Studies, or NAUSS)
I understand that the major book outlets in Riyadh [i.e. the Obeikan
and Jarir chains] now carry a much-expanded later edition [may be
circa 2007 or 2008] which includes terms related to terrorism,
counter-terrorism, and internal security operations.
For [military/defense] intelligence-related terms, those terms are
usually included inside generic bilingual dictionaries and glossaries
on military subjects. A number of those references exists. Let me
know of specific interests or fields in intelligence, operations &
planning [since they are closely related, if not interdependent], and
I can refer you to some titles and vendors in the US that carry or can
search and order them from overseas publishers with which they have US
distributorship agreements.
Hope this helps.
