Subject:Columbia U Summer Program in Amman

Dear colleagues,
Columbia University Summer Arabic Language Program in Amman, Jordan is
currently accepting applications for the upcoming summer. The program
covers a full year of Arabic for a total of 10 points in two four- week
sessions covering 160 classroom contact hours. The following levels are
offered:

Modern Standard Arabic, 10 points

First Year Arabic I-II (Elementary)

Second Year Arabic I-II (Intermediate)

Third Year Arabic I-II (Advanced)

The program also features:

1. Jordanian Arabic instruction integrated in the conversation hour
everyday and taught by local Teaching Assistants.

2. Language Pledge enforced at the Columbia Middle Eastern Research Center
where classes are held.

3. Volunteering with local NGOs for students at the advanced level.

4. Course-related field trips to Petra, Wadi Rum, Mount Nebo, the Dead Sea
and other sites.

5. Lectures by local academics and artists and cultural activities.

6. Optional family stays.
