Subject: JOBS:U of Miami Non-tenure Track Arabic Job
University of Miami, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures is
seeking a Lecturer in Arabic for a full-time, non-tenure-track, academic
year 2014/15 appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to
teach elementary and intermediate Arabic language courses. Superior level
proficiency in Arabic and a solid command of English are required.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses and meeting with
students for 3 office hours per week per class, and attending faculty
meetings as required. Qualifications include a commitment to excellence in
Arabic language pedagogy and the candidate must have a minimum of one year
of collegiate teaching experience and an M.A. in Arabic literary and
cultural studies or linguistics in hand by July 30, 2014. The preferred
candidate will have formal training in the teaching of foreign language and
specifically in the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language. Review of
applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is
filled. Preference will be given to candidates whose materials are received
by April 25, 2014.
