From astibbe at glos.ac.uk Mon Nov 3 22:00:10 2025 From: astibbe at glos.ac.uk (STIBBE, Arran) Date: Mon, 3 Nov 2025 22:00:10 +0000 Subject: [Cadaad] New course adopted by United Nations In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Dear Cadaad colleagues, I'm pleased to say that The Search for New Stories to Live By course has been adopted by the United Nations as part of their SDG:Learn programme. You can find it here. The previous course The Stories We Live By has also been adopted (here). I think this is important because it takes CDA beyond linguistics students and specialist journals and makes it available to a much wider audience with more potential for impact. I've avoiding the terms 'linguistics' or 'discourse' in the title of the new course specifically to make it attractive to a wider audience. best wishes, Arran Arran Stibbe Professor of Narrative Ecology University of Gloucestershire -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The workshop itself will take place on the 8-9th January 2026 at Queen Mary University of London, in hybrid format. Please see the attachments for more information. Our workshop aims to explore how autistic people engage with and express focused interests across diverse communicative settings. Bringing together discourse, narrative, and interactional approaches, the sessions will examine how focused interests shape the stories autistic individuals tell, the way knowledge is shared, and connections are formed? both online and offline. What would it mean to centre focused interests as a strength, rather than a symptom in need of intervention? We especially welcome participation from autistic individuals and allies, clinicians, educational professionals, and others outside of academia. If you are interested in contributing to the workshop (as a presenter, or speaker at a roundtable discussion), please get in touch with me by Friday 14th November. I am happy to answer any questions you have. Once we have the confirmation of speakers, I will circulate information about how to sign up to attend the workshop.
