Hi everyone,

Shall we read this article for September?

Koller, V. (2005). "Critical discourse analysis and social cognition:
evidence from business media discourse." Discourse & Society 16(2):
199-224.

As I mentioned earlier, the author would like to join us for the discussion
- hopefully that won't make anyone extra shy about participating.

Also, since Blackwell is offering 2 months of free access to Sociological
Quarterly, maybe October would be a good time to read another article from
that journal. I saw a number of articles that might be of interest to the
group - does anyone want to look at any of the following?

“NO WEAPON SAVE ARGUMENT”: Strategic Frame Amplification in the
U.S. Woman Suffrage Movements. Holly J. McCammon, Lyndi Hewitt, Sandy Smith.
The Sociological Quarterly, Vol. 45, Issue 3, pp. 529-556, 2004.

IMPRESSION MANAGEMENT FOR THE THINKING RACIST: A Case Study of
Intellectualization as Stigma Transformation in Contemporary
White Supremacist Discourse. Mitch Berbrier. The Sociological Quarterly,
Volume 40, Number 3, pages 411-433. 1999.

PEACENIKS AND WARMONGERS’ FRAMING FRACAS ON THE HOME FRONT: Dominant and
Opposition Discourse Interaction during the Persian Gulf Crisis. Roberta L.
Coles. The Sociological Quarterly, Volume 39, Number 3, pages 369-391. 1998.

THE SYMBOLIC CONSTRUCTION OF RUSSIA AND THE UNITED STATES ON RUSSIAN
NATIONAL TELEVISION. Philo C. Wasburn and Barbara Ruth Burke. The
Sociological Quarterly, Volume 38, Number 4, pages 669-686. 1997.

Welcome to new members! Please feel free to make suggestions for readings.

Best,
Linnea
