Hi everyone,
I received the following insightful suggestions to the
question I posted. Please read along. I will post a
summary later.
Have a wonderful day.
Noriko
When I was in my last year we had to read a discourse
analysis reade that I
thought pretty inclusive. Because it was a reader it
inclded some very
important fundamental texts and as such provided a good
starting point. It
also included some texts from various branches (critcal
discourse analysis
notably). It was published by Routledge and I think it was
called Discourse
Analysis. cannot remember more than that I am afraid I
will try to get more
info. Apart from that there is a rather good one by M.
Stubbs that
investigates classroom language but it might be a bit
oldish. I used it as
a
starting point for my undergraduate disserattion and there
was quite a lot
to dig from it : Language in the Classrooom, Basil
Blackwell for my edition
but I don't know if it's still published. There is also
Georgakopoulou and
Goutsos Discourse Analysis: an Introduction, but I never
really took to it.
LOL
Hope I was of use,
Dear all:
If you are asked to choose two CDA reading materials
(articles, book chapters, etc.) for a gradutate level DA
class, what will you choose? If you are a student, and you
have some wonderful reading materials for your class,
please share them with us.
If you don't have accurate information with you, please do
not worry. Even a partial information (without publication
date, or publisher) will be a great help.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Noriko Sugimori
