Subject: Irish language corpus planning

I am a graduate student at New York University taking a course about
language policy and planning from Dr. Joshua Fishman (in case anyone has
ever heard of him--he wrote Reversing Language Shift and developed the
GIDS index.)

I am writing a paper about language planning in Ireland since
independence (1920) and am looking for information about corpus planning
for the Irish language.  The main question I have is what are the
guidelines for incorporating new words into Irish?  Is is preferred
that  new words come from or sound like their English counterparts?  Or
is it perhaps just the opposite?  Is English avoided?  If so, what other
sources are drawn on?

Also, I would like to know if the Irish language has changed appreciably
since 1920.  This is probably hard to measure, but I'm just wondering if
anyone has an opinion.

Lastly, have there been any significant new grammar books or
dictionaries published in the last twenty years or so?

I would greatly appreciate replies to my questions. Any additional
information about corpus planning for the Irish language would also be
appreciated.
