CLAN won't unstuff

I hope this is the right list for such a question. I'm using a Mac
iBook with System 9. I've repeatedly downloaded the clan software,
and every time, the program will not unstuff. I have various
versions, 4, 5, and 6 of Stuffit Expander (including the latest).
None of them work. I'm always told that the file is not a Stuffit
file or may be corrupted. Is this a common problem? Is there a simple
solution?
