tgl or tag

The January 31, 2012 version of the
The CHILDES Project Tools for Analyzing Talk – Electronic Edition Part
1:  The CHAT Transcription Format
indicates that the 3-letter code for Tagalog is tag, whereas the
ISO-639.cut file that comes with the 20 Dec 2011 version of CLAN
indicates that tgl is the code for Tagalog. Which is the preferred
code?

so far, i have been using tgl rather than changing the ISO-639.cut
file.
