Utterances following a search item

Kevin,
    If you add the +w5 switch, you will get the next 5 utterances, but these will not be the next 5 utterances spoken by some particular speaker.  The idea of filtering out following by a specific speaker instead of any speaker is foreign to CLAN and not something I have ever bumped into myself in the research literature.  Do you have some reference to an analytic framework that considers things from this point of view.  I would like to understand why people would look at things this way.
