Illegal characters when running CHECK

Dear list members,
I am running the CHECK command on a series of chat files. I have corrected
all the syntax errors in the files, except for one type of error that I
don't know what to do about. Below I have pasted an output from the CHECK
command that contains this error type. As you will see, specific letter are
considered to be illegal characters. In the example, these are the letters
"y" in "boy", "g" in "big", and "d" in "kind". In other chat files, other
letters are considered illegal. Does anyone know how I correct these
illegal characters? Any suggestions are much appreciated!
Thanks
Linda
