Question about the 'Silence' command

Nicole,

SILENCE command does not work with MP3 media files. It only works with WAVE and AIFF format media files. The error message, if you have MP3 media file, is misleading. I will change it to be more informative. I have received the sample CHAT and media files that you emailed to me, but I want to reply to chilbolt, because this information is not specific to your media file. I have converted your MP3 media file to WAVE format and I have tested it on my Windows 7. It works fine on my Windows 7 machine. After you convert your MP3 file to WAVE format make sure that media file name ends with ".wav" and that it is a non-compressed WAVE media file. Also, make sure you have later version of CLAN. If your version is very old there could be a bug in it. Please, try SILENCE command on sample file that we provide with CLAN application. Try this command:

silence +salert clip.cha

The sample file "clip.cha" is located in either "CLAN\lib\samples" folder, if you have an older version of CLAN, or in "CLAN\examples" folder, if you have the latest version of CLAN. Let me know if the above SILENCE command on our sample file "clip.cha" doesn't work for you.

Leonid.
