Can I have multiple layers of brackets with COMBO?

Dear CHIBOLTS,

This is part of a very long command of mine.

combo +t*CHI +t%mor +t%gra
+s"((*|this+*|that)^(v*+(adv*^v*)))+((*|this+*|that)^(aux*+(adv*^aux*)))"
+d1 +u +f

Since I have a lot of inclusive or, I use multiple layers of brackets. This
command can run, but it does not do what I want. I want the cases where
"this" or "that" is followed by a verb or by an adverb and then a verb, and
the cases where "this" or "that" is followed by an auxiliary or by an
adverb and then an auxiliary. This command, however, only gives me the
first half ("this" or "that" followed by a verb or by an adverb then by a
verb) but not the second half.

Could you tell me where is wrong with my command?

Thanks,
Cindy
