Copy and paste data into cha. file?

Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to copy and paste (line by line if 
necessary) already transcribed data into CLAN, or convert a different file 
type into .cha and open it in CLAN. 
I ask because I want to transcribe some data as soon as possible but have 
not yet got over the learning curve of transcribing in CLAN. But I do want 
to run analyses using CLAN eventually. So if I do it in CHAT format but in 
an Excel or Word file, will I be able to copy + paste it over OR convert 
the file it later?
