New format for commands?

I am trying to run simple commands, like get a count of how many verbs were 
produced. Previously, this would run when given the command 

freq +s"@|-v*" +o @

but this no longer works. CLAN tells me to use the new format of +s@ 
option: +sm , but I am not sure what this means or how it will work for 
counting individual word types.
