CLAN doesn't play back properly

Hello all,
I regularly used CLAN for transcribing conversations and interviews some
years back and I'd like to employ it again for a new project - but one of
the central features (to me) doesn't seem to work now, or at least not in a
way I understand: the simple playback of a transcribed extract,
highlighting each line/segment as it plays. I can still activate this
function (still using F6 on my Windows laptop), but now for some reason the
playback stops when it reaches a line/segment with no explicit ID header.
When a speaker talks for a stretch of several lines I would usually enter
their ID header only once at the beginning of their speaking turn (and CLAN
inferred the same ID for all succeeding lines until a new ID header was
displayed), but now it appears I need to repeatedly enter the same ID
header for each line/segment. If I don't do this, the F6 playback stops at
each line/segment, and I need to manually place the cursor at the next
line/segment and hit F6 again to resume playback, again only to watch it
stop immediately after.
I have checked and double-checked all the time codes, the segments are not
overlapping or anything and the transcripts check out fine using ESC L.
I've also ensured using the latest versions of CLAN, and I've tried using
different laptops (running Windows 11) but without any difference. What
really baffles me, though, is that this problem is apparently not
consistent. When opening my old CLAN transcriptions (e.g. 2016-2020), they
seem to play back just fine as they are, even though they don't have
explicit ID headers for each line. And even now, when I start a new
transcription, I'm sometimes allowed for a certain stretch to do it 'the
old way', i.e. transcribe multiple-line speaker turns without repeating the
ID header for each line/segment (and F6 playback will run uninterruptedly),
but then at some point in the same file this is no longer possible. That
is, F6 playback will run smoothly during the first stretch and then later
stop because there's no explicit ID header. This alternation appears to me
as entirely random - I can't think of anything that has been done
differently in the stretches/files where F6 playback runs uninterruptedly,
as opposed to those where it doesn't.
Of course I could just accept this apparent 'requirement' and enter ID
headers for each line/segment, but it seems an illogical requirement as it
would be very inconvenient and severely decrease the legibility and
aesthetics of the transcript. Also, other CLAN users I've talked to do not
recognise the problem and I've consulted online manuals and tutorials etc.
without any luck, so my impression so far is I may be the only user dealing
with this. Does anyone have an idea what might cause this, what I might be
doing wrong, or how I can approach it in terms of e.g. workarounds? I use
the playback function regularly for presentations and shared data sessions
etc., and simply for going through and analysing data, so the feature is
very important to me.
All the best, and thanks in advance
