Kanawi-Laksta,

The Culture and Heritage Society of the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde would like to announce our willingness to host the 2nd annual
Chinook Jargon conference in 1999. This has been a discussion point
within our program for several months and the recent activity on the
Chinook-list has prompted us to make this announcement.

I would like to see this event maintain the informal environment of this
year's conference, in Mission, while encouraging more academics to
attend and present recent work. This will allow people interested in
all aspects of Chinook to come together and share their interests and
knowledge.

I would like to suggest the weekend of September 17th - 19th 1999 for
the conference dates.

Our planning for this event is of course just beginning, however, we
currently assume that:

1. Meeting facilties and necessary materials will be provided.

2. Lodging and food will be on your own, however, the new Spirit
Mountain Lodge, at the Spirit Mountain Casino, will be open and
group/conference rates may be available.

3. Camping will be available locally. The weather should cooperate.

4. The Language Program will attempt to provide at least one partial
scholarship to attend for a minimum of one conference participant.

Please note that this is a preliminary announcement and details are
subject to change. I will look forward to hearing from you all and we
will update everyone as planning continues.

Qhata mEsayka tEmtEm? Lush pus mEsayka munk-c!Em nayka.
