It has no bearing on the etymology of the English potato, except insofar=20
as one sometimes notes cognates in an etymological context, but in=20
Esperanto we say "batato" for "sweet potato", while "potato" (which=20
*looks* more Esperanto than English!) is called "terpomo", a =
French-inspired=20
compound of the "aardvark" variety.
