Months ago I mentioned a set of notes labelled wrong which contained CJ
words. Well I have finally found the file and it is under NAA Smithsonian
#4800-379, J. Owen Dorsey, Siletz Agency, OR, 1884. Informants are Kisa'/
Depot Charley, Henry Clay, and Alex. Catfish. The language/ culture group
is given as Tce-me' tunni (= Joshua, white name). There does appear to be
some Tene (athabaskan) vocabulary but in comparing the handwritten entries
to Thomas, it appears that most of the vocab. is actually Chinook Jargon.
The vocab. list is incomplete and in the old BAE vocab handbook. But there
is a substantial amount of info and possibly alternative versions of some
words. But I am not a linguist so I am offering to send copies to people
who are. Let me know and remember to send your address.
