I think the obscenity is cleaning up the landscape and
sanitizing history.

The one that truly offended me was the renaming of the "Murder Creek"
to "Miller Creek" and the town of "Murder Creek" to "Millersburg" in
Oregon. The place had originally been named because of an ambush attack
on one tribe of Indians by another.

I'm really sick of PC people redefining terms to make themselves feel
more comfortable. No offense, but calling some place Squaw Creek bothers
me a lot less than some &#@$@^ person, usually very PC, who asks me
why I'm not off "helping my people" or if I'm a "recovering alcoholic."

The funniest thing I've ever seen was the Ohlone who was disparagingly
told by an individual "you don't look Indian" when he was talking about
Ohlone land claims and the importance of Indian gambling to the futures
of tribal people. The individual then asked him to "say something in
Indian" to prove his ancestry.

Without a beat, the Ohlone gentleman responded with "you don't look Jewish.
Can you drop your pants or something and prove it?"
