I picked up a used copy of _A Phonology, Morphology, and Classified Word
List for the Samish Dialect of Straits Salish_ by Brent Galloway for $3
at a used book store. It is a fairly extensive wordlist based on two
speakers of the above dialect. In it there are several words derived
from CJ. Here are some:
shxw?ilewE?, turnip
laplash, board
lEkEli, key
sil, material or cloth
lEtem, table
lEshal, shawl
sEplil, bread
Most of these seem pretty straight forward to me with the exception of
"turnip." Any ideas on that one?
LaXayEm, Jim
