Thanks for the Meacham analysis. Following is a TENINO etymology just
(with orthog. adjustments) as I submitted it to Oxford, with thanks to
Haruo Aoki.

TENINO NEWS drafting, etym.
< Sahaptin tináynu 'Tenino' < tin- 'sun' + -ayn 'into' + -(n)u 'tribe,
band', i.e., perhaps, 'people of the sunset', the Tenino being a western
band of the Sahaptin; cf. Nez Perce tineyné:kt 'sunset'.
