Thanks for the tip: the book sounds interesting.

Some of your characters (e.g., quot. marks) come through garbled in my
(Netscape) mail program: a-circumflex, euro, o-e digraph, et al.

Very possibly: -gama and nibi both refer to (bodies of) water in Ojibway
& Cree. iaa- looks like aya- (reduplicated a-). Sorry I can't explain
the construction.
