Thanks Mike, Sally, and Dave. I was, indeed, asking a question about
something I do not know the answer to and was wondering if anyone else did.
I appreciate hearing about the research each of you has done into that
answer. I was under the impression that it had not been definitively
answered by the linguistic community and so was surprised when Dave inferred
it had been. I understand better, now, why each of you has the slant you
have, and will be interested to hear if others have other
findings/ruminations/data about the origin of chinuk wawa or chinook jargon
(whichever you prefer.)
