Annual Conference of the North West Centre for Linguistics (NWCL)
      University of Manchester, England
          22-23 November, 2002

          Speakers include:

          Lyle Campbell (Canterbury)
          Walter Bisang (Mainz)
          Peter Bakker (Aarhus)
          April McMahon (Sheffield)
          R. L. Trask (Sussex)

Abstracts are invited for 30-minute presentations on aspects related
to areal convergence and language change. Preference will be given to
papers that survey one or more linguistic areas and assess its
theoretical implications for historical linguistics and contact
linguistics.

Abstracts (of no more than 400 words) can be sent by mail or email
attachment (in Word or RTF) to the organiser, Yaron Matras, email:
y.matras at man.ac.uk, Department of Linguistics, University of
Manchester, Manchester M13 9PL, United Kingdom.

The deadline for abstract submissions is April 30, 2002.

All abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by a panel of referees.
