Cheechakoes and "cheechako"

Greetings from Juneau, Alaska!

About "cheechako":  The locally published tourist guide says "only
newcomers use this overused word."

Once the airline delivers my lost baggage, I'm off for a bagel and some
archive research.

Incidentally, the lady who sat by me on the plane yesterday lives right by
Grand Ronde and immediately knew what I meant when the subject of "Chinook"
came up.  A nice surprise.
