"Field work of Harlan Ingersoll Smith 1922; An old Bella Coola woman,
Uhnooakim-atlum called Hanno by white people and known as
Ahshimlickahkwayaka mama in Chinook jargon, making a hat of red cedar back
C/R VII-D-338, J19661-3. * Information from: Andrea Laforet, Pacific Coast
Ethnologist, Canadian Ethnology Service. "Aschimlic Kahkwa yaka mama" is a
Chinook jargon phrase meaning "like Ahschimlic's mother". In this context
it appears to have been used to refer te the wife of Ahschimlic
(askimlik), whose name was anuskimatinam "she doctors the road as she goes
by". The Bella Coola people who discussed this in May, 1982, perceived the
chinook jargon label as a joke; 1922; British Columbia."
