How to say 'Canim Lake' in English

So this Canim is a Salish word? (Same as Thompson Salish /ken-m/ 'what
happened?, what is the matter?, what is wrong?, what happened to
(someone)?' etc. etc. according to the Thompson & Thompson 1996
dictionary.)

Or is this just a coincidence that involves English speakers getting
confused by the spelling of Canim in English?

If Canim Lake has anything to do with the Jargon word for "canoe(s)", we
might expect it to be pronounced ka-NIM. For comparison, Kamloops Wawa
always has <knim>, and elsewhere we know the pronunciation [kEni'm] is
usual, right back to the old Chinookan languages.
