LaXayEm,

Well Scott as you guessed it is already taken. "yuLqat-qw'alan" is a
usual, and long established, way of saying "rabbit" around here.

Just to add my two cents,
It is interesting in Farsi the word for Donkey is Xar
and Rabbit is Xar guush = big ears or donkey ear
The most distinguishing feature became the name for these animals.
Seeing the Makah word for donkey = i-i-wah-biL and the chee-wawa
coined
term for
donkey = yuLqat-qw'Elan-kiyutan from Tony. (kiyutan = horse in
Clallam,
qibtal = horse in Makah)
I wonder if yuLqat-qw'Elan would be sufficent for donkey in wawa if
rabbit
has not taken this term already?
The Sioux had horses and dogs. They had dogs first, and horses were a
gift
from the creator,
so the word for horse reflects the spiritual nature of the horse. The
term
for horse is literally = holy or sacred dog.
My two cents almost became a bit, gotta go! nayka tenas cikamin chakoo
bit,
kotta Lataawa!
tluush nanich nayka siks,
Scott
