In Sister Mary Louise's 1932 U of Washington thesis, I notice a newspaper
quote (from the Yakima Daily Republic, July 2, 1923) of an Indian woman
named Kiam Pun Sapellell who had been an eyewitness to the burning of St.
Joseph's Mission on the Ahtanum on November 14, 1855.

Is this Sapellell a Chinuk Wawa name?

(This lady is represented as speaking tenseless English without overt
pronouns, and with overt nouns only at shifts of focus. It's not
stereotypical Indian "pidgin" English but suggests the influence of the
region's languages and of Chinuk Wawa, any of which she may have known.)
