Hamamatsu Pidgin

Seems there was a problem with my yesterday's msg
(nothing new in it though...). Best, Yann

Hey, Dave,

Yes, funny that some words sound familiar in other
languages (with similar or different meaning).
In Hamamatsu pidgin, most Japanese words are standard
words, only the grammar is plain pidgin. 'Hayaku' is
standard Japanese for 'quick(ly)' thus 'hurry up'.
Nothing to do with CJ here. Same goes with the
saibashi (chockstick) / savage myth (I think).
One funny such cross-influence example is the use of
'hooch' for house in GI lingo in Asia, influenced by
Japanese 'uchi', even if originally it is in slang use
in the US.

Cheers from Paris, Yann
