How do you say "Indian corn" in French?

Try "grain indien" on for size.  see how it fits.  As far as I know, Mais is french for "but" (e.g. Mon nom est Troy, mais chacun m'appelle Saghalie) I think maybe you wanted maize?  Maize is the "corn" of the americas considered by some not fit for human consumption (me included)!
