Corpora: French and German chunking

I am looking for information (paper, links, and mainly resources...)
about chunking of French and German texts, but English studies
are welcome.
I am interested both in extracting syntactic patterns likely to describe
chunks (as for example DET ADJ N for NPs), and applying such rules
for the chunking task.
An application of it could be to use phrase boundaries in order to solve
lexical ambiguities.
