TEACHING AND LANGUAGE CORPORA 2002: Second Call for Papers

Time is running out for the next Teaching and Language Corpora conference.
Deadline for submissions is February 18; bookings will open from the same
date.

FOLLOWING the highly successful conferences in Lancaster (1994 and 1996),
Oxford (1998) and Graz (2000), the fifth international TALC conference will
bring together practitioners and theorists with a common interest in the
use of corpus tools for such purposes as: 
- first and second language teaching and learning 
- language awareness raising 
- teaching languages for specific purposes 
- student-centered linguistic investigation 
- interpreting and translation studies 
- cultural and historical studies 
- teaching literature 

THE CONFERENCE will be held in the mediaeval hill-top village of Bertinoro
(roughly half way between Bologna and Rimini), beginning at 7 p.m. on July
27 and ending at 9 a.m on July 31. Pre-conference tutorials and workshops
by Sean Wallis, Lou Burnard, and Michael Barlow will be held on July 27.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
TALC 2002 invites proposals for position papers, reports of work in
progress, case-histories of successful corpus applications, and
introductions to relevant new resources. Proposals may be for 20-minute
plenary presentations, posters, or software demonstrations. 
     Abstracts (500 words) should reach Guy Aston (talc5 at sslmit.unibo.it)
before 18 February 2002. All proposals will be reviewed. Authors of those 
accepted for inclusion will be notified by 15 April, and the programme will 
be finalised during May 2002.
