Research Positions in Natural Language Processing: Information Extraction
Proteus Project, New York University

PostDoctoral researcher
Research programmer (M.S. level)
The Proteus Project at New York University's Computer Science Department
is seeking bright and energetic individuals for two positions in
Information Extraction (IE) research. Our group is a leader in IE research
and is trying to push the limits of current IE technology, in particular
with regard to adaptation to new domains.
Successful candidates are expected to perform research on
1) Active learning/unsupervised learning/bootstrapping methods as applied
to Named Entity recognition or semantic tagging (PostDoc)
2) Other related areas of IE (PostDoc)
3) Development and implementation of IE systems, and resource management
(Programmer)
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
PostDoctoral researcher:
- - PhD in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science or Information Sciences
- - extensive experience with at least one of: Java, Perl, C, C++
- - experience in Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning
- - good command of English
Programmer:
- - MS in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science or Information Sciences
- - extensive experience with at least one of: Java, Perl, C, C++
- - knowledge of user interface programming
- - good command of English
