Position Announcement: Computational Linguistics at Ohio State
The Department of Linguistics at the Ohio State University seeks
candidates for a tenure-track position in computational linguistics at the
rank of Assistant Professor, starting Autumn 2005.
The person filling the position will join one of the premier
linguistics departments in the US and its very active computational
linguistics group with two faculty members and 15 PhD students. The
Computational Linguistics and Language Technology group at OSU is based
on a close collaboration with two CL faculty members in Computer Science and
Engineering and their students. Moreover, as a vehicle for
interdisciplinary work with a CL component, the OSU Center for Cognitive
Science fosters collaboration among faculty from Linguistics, Computer
Science and Engineering, Speech and Hearing Science, Psychology, Music and
Cognitive Engineering. For additional information about the Department of

The new assistant professor will be expected to be active in research and
publication, to meet standard departmental teaching requirements and to
perform service duties as required by the department and the university.
All areas of specialization in computational linguistics will be
considered. Candidates are expected to have the Ph.D. by the time of the
appointment.
